The creators of Watly, a 15-ton multitasking thermal dynamic computer, believe their machine could help address three developmental challenges in Africa in one go: clean water, electricity and internet connectivity. The project—which is only in its prototype stage—aims to offer its machines as a solution to the infrastructural problems that communities all over Africa face. Marc

I came across this article that spoke on the subject: clean water. The creator of the machine Marco Attisani is an Italian entrepreneur, which he is hoping for developmental challenges such as clean water, electricity, and internet connectivity to be able to reach Africa. Marco states that one machine can purify up to 3 million liters of water a year and has a life span of 15 years, as well as, creating a Wi-Fi zone with a radius of up to 500 meters. In 2013, the first prototype was initially set up in the village of Abenta in Ghana to test the human impact. However, they did not use evidence to support the statements of the measurements Marco stated previously, meaning, that the statements may, in fact, be untrue. In the article, Soumonnia, an innovation scholar at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, stated that unless the technology has been used it is considered a nonsuccessful innovation. This article does not have any supporting evidence but the author did make the article convincing enough for us to be able to belive the machine will work for those who will be dependent on the machine. The authors seemed neutral about the topic; it provided measurements without evidence but it provided several points of view (investments, Marco results, and a statement of Soumonnia) instead of just one.
